Nicaragua told the ICJ today that Germany "should have been aware there was a serious risk that acts that could amount to genocide were being committed by Israel" and failed to act. Ambassador Argüello described Gaza as genocide "carried out publicly and live-streamed." Germany argued Monday the case should be dismissed, calling Nicaragua's factual picture "inaccurate and distorted" while stressing its "unwavering support for Israel's existence and security." The hearings this week are only on jurisdiction — whether the case proceeds at all. A ruling is expected in about six months. Germany is Israel's second-largest arms supplier after the US.
