Israeli forces have systematically demolished large parts of southern Lebanon, including homes, roads, water systems, farmland, healthcare facilities and historic sites—much of it after villages were emptied and ceasefires declared.
About 85,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed, 270,000 people remain barred from returning to Israeli-controlled areas, and more than 20% of southern Lebanon’s farmland and forests has been destroyed.
The result is that significant parts of the south are becoming effectively uninhabitable.
