U.S. and Saudi forces conducted joint airstrikes across Iraq targeting Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi) positions, ammunition depots, and headquarters.
Reported strike locations spanned Basra, Wasit, Nineveh, and Babil governorates.
The operation came within hours of Iran’s failed ballistic missile attack on U.S. forces at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, and followed the White House’s “Finish this fight” message.
Unverified claims circulated that a senior PMF figure, including a reported chief of staff, was killed in the operation.
At least 12 militias have been killed so far.
PMF vowed a response, while stopping short of confirming some of the higher-level casualty claims circulating on social media.
