According to filmmaker Alex Holder, Lindsey Graham grew increasingly frustrated with both the Trump administration and fellow Republicans over the Iran war. Graham said he battled "a lot of people inside" who opposed U.S. involvement and lamented that few administration officials were publicly making the case for the conflict. "Very few people are out selling this war from the administration. I'm shocked," Graham said. Holder said Graham also became frustrated with Trump after the president signed a preliminary deal with Iran in June. In their final interview, conducted at a bagel shop in Columbia, South Carolina, just weeks before Graham's death, the senator said Trump was becoming too hesitant.
