Turkish President Erdogan: The European Union's developments in the defense field must complement NATO and must not lead to unnecessary duplications. I bring this important point to the attention of our allies and the European Union leadership at every opportunity, on every platform. This is a fact: just as it is quite good to be an EU member, when non-EU member allies like Türkiye are not fully included in the Union's defense initiatives, the impact of these initiatives will be very limited. On the other hand, certain barriers to the trade of defense industry products among allies, although somewhat reduced, still continue. These must be removed unconditionally and without exception as soon as possible. We ensured that this point was specifically emphasized in the summit declaration.
