Leonardo and Baykar completed the first live K-SWARM trials at Baykar’s Çorlu test centre in Türkiye. A crewed Leonardo M-346 FA jet directly commanded an uncrewed Bayraktar KIZILELMA fighter in live flight. The KIZILELMA autonomously taxied, took off, and joined formation, with the M-346 pilot controlling the formation via a new avionics suite. They demonstrated autonomous formation flying, position changes, and secure real-time data links (protected by Leonardo’s GCC cyber system). This is one of the first real-world demos of a crewed jet teaming with a jet-powered uncrewed combat aircraft, advancing “loyal wingman” and swarm concepts. It builds on the Leonardo–Baykar partnership and their LBA Systems joint venture.
